As a single father of three boys I have to work some odd hours to make ends meet. I’ve taught my boys to be very self-sufficient and hopefully given them the life skills needed to make it in this world. I have always trusted my boys to make the right decisions, but I’m not naive’; teens can be some of the dumbest creatures on earth, lol.

One day when I came home I could have sworn I smelt the distinct, faint odor of cigarette smoke. I asked my boys, who of course denied it to the end. Not having any proof I had to let it go, but I didn’t forget it. That night after they were all in bed it hit me that if they’re smoking, what else were they doing while I was out?! I immediately got on the computer and started searching up some of the parent blogs I had always trusted for advice over the years. These were written by other single parents and had always been quite helpful. Sure enough a mother there had had a similar problem and had resorted to a mini surveillance device. She described in great detail the little gadget and how she implemented it to get the hard-core proof she needed to both confront and protect her pre-teens. It is called Little Brother Cam, and that little spy camera seemed to be surprisingly easy to operate and easily hidden. She provided the web address and I went to the site; it WAS easy, small and affordable so I went ahead and bought one.

I practiced with the camera for a few days placing it in different parts of the house, and looking at the footage after the boys were in bed, and decided the mantle in the media room was the best place to catch a good view. They and their friends spend a majority of their time in there playing video games and jamming. I left that afternoon and 4 of their friends were already there, playing some dumb video game and weren’t paying any attention to me as I casually went over to the mantle and activated the camera.

I came home about 3hrs later, the guys were still there, (the windows now open), and I retrieved the camera. That night after dinner I took my laptop into my room to take a peek and sure enough there they were, not only smoking but hitting my scotch! In defense of my boys, they were not doing this, but two of their so-called friends were. I picked up my laptop and called a family meeting. With overwhelming proof in my hands there wasn’t much the boys could say, but it did bring up another conversation on peer pressure. The fact that these two boys weren’t only disrespecting my home, but disrespecting my sons as well, and that bit of added guilt, “if something happened while I was gone because of their drinking, I would go down, regardless of the fact that I wasn’t here! Then where would they be?” (That one seems to work well, lol).

I have to say, I was a little surprised, but not shocked, they are teens after all, and I did MUCH worse as a teen! But I’m just glad I invested a little money and caught this early before something really serious happened. I was very surprised at how something as small as a key chain car remote could be so clear, easy and effective. That Little Brother Cam has been well worth the money; the boys now know I could be filming anywhere, anytime and seem to be back on the right track, lol. Nothing like a little paranoia to keep them in check, lol.

It’s been recognized as real for centuries, scoffed at by many, yet an undeniable, inexplicable reliable phenomenon since the dawn of time; a woman’s intuition. Women have relied upon it, men have feared it, lives have been saved by it and pride restored with it. I was taught from a young age to listen to and rely upon mine, thank goodness!

After 20 plus years of marriage to a man whom I thought an honorable man, a man I trusted enough to father 5 beautiful children with, a man who had always treated me with the utmost respect, I began to get a funny feeling. A feeling I tried to ignore as silly insecurities brought upon by my changing body, aging looks, etc. But persist in nagging me it did, so much so that I could no longer ignore it. I had no definable reasons, no tell tale signs really, but I believed, felt, intuitively KNEW, he was cheating on me.

It began to obsess my every thought, make me question his every word or motive. I knew I had to take action, or it would ruin my marriage. I had to know the truth, good or bad, for my own sanity. I struggled with how to get this proof without making HIM suspicious, without doing any damage if I was wrong.

While on my Facebook account one day I noticed one of my friends had become a fan of a website called www.littlebrothercam.com. I clicked the link and came upon this little gadget called a mini spy cam. It was just what I needed! It was a little audio/video device that was disguised as a key chain remote, like a car alarm remote. A plan began to take shape…

One morning while that adoring husband of mine was shaving, I took the little brother cam and attached it to my keys. I then placed the keys in the console of his car. He didn’t even notice!

When he returned home that evening I recovered the camera from his car and waited on pins and needles for him to go to bed. Once he was fast asleep I plugged in the camera to my laptop and began to view the video. God help me, I was floored, a paralyzing shock; right there, in full color I was given my proof. About 20 minutes after leaving our home supposedly to go to work he pulled over and you could hear the passenger door open and then her face was visible! Not only was he cheating, but he was cheating with a woman who had been my neighbor for 11 years!! A woman who I had welcomed into my home! I won’t go into the dirty little details of what transpired in that car on that fateful morning, but suffice it to say I had all the proof I needed to not only confront him, but all the ammo I needed to get a very good divorce settlement!! I posted some of that video on Facebook, vindictive maybe, but damn it felt good to shame that immoral home wrecking tramp!

Thank you Little Brother Cam, a woman’s intuition was once again proven to be real!

While out on your next walk, or running your daily errands, you might be more noticed than you think. Covert videoing is on the rise. Americans have a new sense of heightened security and technology costs are plummeting, it’s no longer just big business that is using hidden surveillance cameras — an increasing number of Americans are installing them, as well as using secret “nanny-cams” in their homes.
Once it was just Big Brother that people had to worry about, but now it’s “Little Brother”.
As pointed out by Frank Natale, of www.LittleBrotherCam.com, miniature spy-cams are so small and inexpensive now that they could be anywhere. Tiny cameras can be purchased for as little as $100, and easily hidden in radios, tissue boxes, and even key chain remotes. The sales of these little monitors are on the rise. While the costs are dropping, the quality is improving. Mr. Natale points out that they offer a camera as small as a car alarm remote that has a resolution of 720×40, filming at 30fps and has a memory capable of holding up to 32GB of footage. Amazing clarity in something so small and unobtrusive.
Cameras are now watching even when people aren’t.”The good that comes from safety and security outweighs the losses to freedom of speech and freedom of association that tend to be dampened when people are monitored,” Katz says.
Ever since British au pair Louise Woodward was convicted in 1997 of killing the 8-month-old baby in her care, parents have been snapping up “nanny cams“. Even parents who have the money to hire a nanny (with full background checks) are now buying a little more peace of mind for as little as a $100 for a covert video system.
Many systems are simply to catch a thieves Even churches have security cameras.
Whatever the reason, Americans are certainly filming each other. Like it or not, cameras are a fact of life. Estimates are that in a 10-mile stretch in any major city, your image will be captured on 30 to 40 private security cameras. That doesn’t include cameras in homes or the one carried by the innocuous person you just passed on the sidewalk.
While we can debate the ethical, moral or constitutional aspects all day long, the fact is Americans are being more and more diligent in what they observe and how they report it. Good, bad, or ugly doesn’t seem to matter, but their safety, and that of the ones they love, outweighs any objections most people may have. We have entered a new age in security and the affordability and technological advances will continue us on this path.

A parent’s most important, and most instinctual duty, is to protect their children.  We do everything in our power to achieve this goal. Whether it be the teen-next-door babysitter you hire for that rare night out with your mate, or the person you entrust to care for and nurture your child on a daily basis, we like to feel confident that we’ve done everything possible to screen and choose the right person for this ultimate responsibility. But can we EVER really be sure? We’ve all heard the horror stories, so no matter how much we like and trust this person, there is ALWAYS that nagging doubt and fear buried deep inside us.

One way to assuage that fear and doubt is surveillance. The Nanny Cam has become an increasingly popular tool in the diligent protection of our children while under the supervision of someone other than yourself.  Whether it is something big, expensive and obvious, or small and discreet, a Nanny Cam can mean the difference between one bad, forgettable day for your child, or heaven forbid an irreversible tragedy.

No, we can’t protect them from everything in life, but we owe it to our children to do everything within our power to protect them from any form of neglect or abuse. You can’t place a price on your child’s safety, but this new and proven technology can give you added peace of mind at a reasonable price.

Again, it doesn’t matter whether it is an elaborate, high-tech system or an inexpensive quality device, your child’s safety is within your power, and Nanny Cam’s have proven to be quite effective in providing safe, reliable surveillance of our children and their caregivers.
